I recently purchased two new handguns, the Ruger SR40 and SR45.

I purchased both guns from CDNN about 10 days apart. Both pistols are in two tone form.

After purchasing each gun, first thing to do was to remove the magazine disconnect and clean what looked like chassis lube from each striker. The SR45 appeared to come from Ruger with almost no lube on the gun. The SR40 had a slight bit of lube on it.

Gave both guns a thorough cleaning and lubing and re-assembled.

I was a little worried about the SR45, my SR45 exhibited the same symptoms and Justin Opinion from YouTube. My SR45 when you pulled the trigger and cycled the slide slowly, it would get hung up momentarily. Inserting a loaded magazine into the SR45 with the slide closed proved to be a chore as well, you really had to smack the mag in. Since I insert loaded mags into a pistol with the slide locked open it is very easy. I have 4 mags for my SR45 and each mag holds the slide open when empty.

The SR40 seemed to be an excellent example, it came from the factory with polished internals. I was really impressed with the SR40.

Fast forward to yesterday, a buddy of mine and I went to our local indoor range. He had to test out his new to him G19.

I am pleased to report that both the SR40 and SR45 are great shooting guns. Each gun has an almost identical smooth trigger.

SR40:
I ran ~150 rounds through the gun with no FTEs or FTFs. Every time an empty mag would hold the slide open on the last shot. I had shot a mixture of WWB, TulAmmo, and a few hollow points and the SR40 ate everything it was fed and asked for more. I am very pleased with accuracy, if I did my part I could get good groupings at 7 yards. The SR40's trigger was really smooth OOB so the trigger was consistent through the session.

SR45:
I ran ~200 rounds through the gun with no FTEs or FTFs as well. The SR45 was fed a mixture of Wolf, Federal aluminum, and some assorted brass. All bullets were 230gr FMJ. The SR45 also had very good accuracy if I did my part. After about 150 rounds the trigger was smoothing out a touch(which I have read is usually the case for this pistol).

Both guns I tried to get them to jam by limp wristing them on purpose. They just kept on shooting.

All in all I am very pleased with both guns. I have been what you could call a Ruger fanboy for many years and these two didn't disappoint.

I have a SR45 as well and have had it about 4 years or so. It is a tack driver and very reliable. I lost count of how many rounds I put through it but I would guess its somewhere in the neighborhood of 1700 to 2000 rounds of almost any and everything I could get my hands on. I remember having a failure to feed in the very first mag I put through it and was really worried at that point, but I never had another failure after that. It's a very soft shooting 45 and tears the bullseyes out of target every time I shoot it. Which reminds me that I haven't shot it in a while, I'll have to take it out and run 100 rounds or so to see if she still runs good. My SR45 has outshot many guns on the range that cost 2 to 3 times more, including some of my own lol

Glad to hear it. This one has been my beside table HD pistol since they first came out, Great value for a well made reliable semi.

I've been intrigued by the SR Series of pistols. They appear to be very ergonomic and sturdy. I just cannot get past the enormous rollmarks!

I may buy one anyway. They are Rugers after all. They gotta be stout.

CDNN has the SR40($329) and SR45($399) with free shipping right now. Cheapest prices I could find. IMO, the SR40 is a really good gun for that price.

My sr9c is my only 9mm.
I have a 17rd mag and two 10 Rd mags. Despite its compact size, it shoots like a full sized gun.
I am considering selling my compact 1911, I never carry it anymore since I got the sr9c and crossbreed super tuck.
