Even with the rail and a picatinny adapter, it's not going to be as high as a traditional optic.

Burris makes a Fastfire mount that attaches directly to the Ruger factory base cuts. It ain't the only one. I've seen one that replaces the rear sight on a revolver.

Right. I use one like the EGW. Allchin makes another. The one I use is actually sold by Trijicon.

What I want is an optic that direct-mounts with no adapter plate. The thing I don't like is the optics are made for slides and we have to adapt them to a revolver by stacking a plate or two. I want a revolver optic.

So far, I haven't seen a revolver plate for the mini-cc size optics. Those narrower optics could be a good choice for a top-strap mount. Personally, I like the bigger window but a narrower base with a bigger window would be a good combination.

Leave it like it is! I'm assuming you're going to hunt with it and the longer barrel will pay off nicely!

I got the mount in from Griffin Hill and low and behold Bass Pro had the Vortex Venom on sale for $150. Also got in a Hogue grip, so phase 1 is done. Trying to decide on if I still want to cut the barrel down.

I can tell you right now, with the Red Dot on it, is is shooting one hole groups from a rest.

Here’s my 44 mag SRH with the Ultradot 25 in the factory Ruger rings. The Ultradot works EBFFC070-ECB2-4DD8-8E6C-9E3890713A51.jpeg great, I just took a doe at 120 yards with it last weekend
