I have a RRH 44 mag. with .433" throats that neck down to .4325" this is from the factory circa 1988. Apparently a common problem according to this fella https://fermincgarza.com/

I have had ONE Ruger with oversized throats come into my shop, out of hundreds. 3 weeks round trip to the mothership and the cylinder was replaced, all at no cost to the owner.
So you’ve had 31yrs to deal with it, must have been too busy, I suppose?
It was my Fathers gun, to my knowledge it has not been altered. My call to Ruger's customer service was not encouraging, they said it was with in manufactures spec. So I could send it back and they would do nothing leaving me to pay shipping both ways.
Well I opted for the 5.5" version. I think between this and the New Vaquero (Talo birdshead .45 Colt w/ 3.75" barrel) I just bought, my single action revolver itch has been scratched.
I have a Lipsey's Special Edition Ruger Super Blackhawk Stainless Bisley in 44 Magnum with the 3.75" Barrel. That is what I would recommend in 44 for Bear defense in the woods. The Bisley grip makes all the difference in the world in taming recoil. This gun is dead nuts accurate out to 100 yards and is easy to shoot well. It also carries better than the longer barreled revolvers you are looking at. With the right loads it will do the job and won't break your back all day in the woods.
I would also highly recommend the right gun belt and holster, because any of these Ruger's are heavy. Check out the Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake Holster. https://www.simplyrugged.com/ecomme...oncealment-Holster.cfm?item_id=151&parent=669
I have one and it makes a world of difference carrying this gun in the woods for extended periods of time.
