Ruger Wrangler 22LR...

I like the new wrangler. Shot a friend's over the weekend:

More heft than I thought it would have with an aluminum frame. It's more accurate than i am but the sights are small for my old eyes. I liked the free spinning cylinder for loading and dang.. It feels better in the hand than a bearcat ever will.

Looks like a winner in the 22 handgun market when you factor in the price. I haven't even seen one in person yet but have heard all the usual "we have some ordered" answers to inquiries. That tells me they must be selling an awful lot of them. Already have a Ruger Single Six Convertible 22lr/22 Mag. that's a lot of fun but for the price that Wrangler sure does look like I could add one to the safe.

I stopped in at my local Pawn & Gun shop on my way home today. As I walked in the owner said, “I got something you want.”
He had just gotten in a black Wrangler about an hour before I got to the shop and had not put it out yet.
He had it priced $209.99 and I bought it. Just as the sales guy was getting ready to ring it up, the owner told him to drop the price to $199.
I’m going to shoot it tomorrow at work.

I bet you've raised a few eyebrows at times saying, "I'll shoot it at work." :D

I really like this little gun. It feels good in the hand and balances well. I do find the grips a little thin, but plan to pick up a set of wood grips for it.
The fit and finish is very good and the cylinder locks up very well..
The trigger pull is good and the sights are easy to line up.
Here are the targets from the first 12 rounds. My buddy and I took it into the test fire room and played with it a little.

There are casting marks on the grip frame but nothing that bothers my grip.

The only thing I don’t like is the casting marks on the bottom of the grip. It wouldn’t have taken much to clean it up.

I like the fact that the read your owners manual logo is on the bottom of the barrel.

I like the finish on the gun, its smooth and even.
So my overall on this little gun is it’s a great little gun for $200 and fun to shoot.

Gunny

Yeah even at that price point they could have at least cleaned up the casting marks.

Even so it looks like a great little gun for the money!

A matte finish on a revolver, especially a single action makes me want to gag a little.
With that said, I was able to handle a Wrangler at a LGS a week ago and was impressed. It felt well balanced and had enough heft so it didn't feel like a toy. As much as I like my HRRs I think the next time I get the itch for a new rimfire SA (happens quite often) I will take a deep breath and pick up a Wrangler in the black finish, or if I'm lucky they will release a nickel plated model by then.

I think I'll skip it. I already have a 22/45 Ruger target pistol and a Heritage RR. I'm not a big 22 LR pistol shooter. I like the ones I have so I think will buy some 22LR ammo instead of another gun. For that price it can't be much better than my heritage revolver anyway, which works just fine for me.
