Smooths out the minor burrs in the action and makes for a smoother pull. Has a pretty good pull to start with. The heavy barrel and 22's it doesn't jump much.
I would love to see Ruger expand the Wrangler line. Different barrel lengths and maybe a Bird's Eye grip model with a short barrel.
Good idea, but the 22 mag out of a short barrel gun is pretty much useless. The 22 mag out of a rifle is a different story!
Michael A Ferber I was thinking more along the lines of having a spare .22 Mag cylinder with a longer 7" or 7.5" barrel model.
Totally disagree. 22 mag is lucky to burn half its powder out of a short barrel gun. Conclusive tests have proven without a shadow of a doubt.
We finally got one in. I pick it up tomorrow. I'm also a RGR stockholder. This one's rollout reminds me of the P85 and the Old Army, both hitting the shelves way after intro. The Kimberley Solo was also a bad intro. We had one they sent as a sample. We had orders for 80+ before we got one six months later to sell.
put 200+ remington golden bullets through my new wrangler. wow, at $179 with free shipping from smga.com it is an excellent value.
I just tried smga.com and the only Wrangler they have in stock is curiously priced at $199; that is $20 higher than the 'out of stock' black and silver ones. I have given up reading Ruger's 'new products' announcements and all their other daily e-mails. I just delete them unread - why waste the time? They make fine firearms, but I will start recommending potential customers to go with a Heritage .22/.22wmr combo or some other manufacturer's .22 SA Revolver if they hope to have one in time to put it in this year's Christmas stockings. My three main distributors (Zanders, Williams, and Davidson's) still have had none available to order.
My Bronze Wrangler serial# 31xxx purchased in October. Over 300 rounds through it. My Black Wrangler serial# 17xxx purchased in August. Over 1,300 rounds through it. My Silver Wrangler serial# 22xx purchased in June. Over 3,300 rounds through it. So far Ruger has made over 60,000 units. Works out to about 10,000 per month. Given that rate of production I'm not sure what more Ruger could've done to anticipate the demand.
The gold one with ivory grips looks really cool. I have a black Wrangler and kind of want to get faux mother of pearls for it, “just because”. But I can’t find any reasonably priced ones.
Saw one at my LGS yesterday. $250. Felt good in the hand. Not a real fan of the rear notch sight. May have to pick one up.
