Now it seems that the ammo that has some type of coating is preferred like lacquer. So then I notice that Tula doesn't have any coating and some of the Wolf Military Classic I got do not have any coatings on them. Should the ammo that is not coated with anything be avoided? Golden Tiger and I th ink Bear have some kind of coating.
I saw some Wolf ammo with a poly coat. Is poly coat preferred?

tHANKS for the info. the consensus seems to be that the Golden Bear is the best. FMJ and or HP?
In my experience none of the "Bear" hollow points expand. In fact, most of the steel cased ammunition is reported to have very little expansion in my experience. As was mentioned above, the soft point projectiles are more likely to expand when it comes to the eastern block ammunition. As also mentioned above, Tula is the one ammunition that I have found that is really bad. I find that the projectiles have such little neck tension that the bullets will often get set back into the casing.

Yes unfortunately i just bought 200 Tula HP which is the lowest cost ammo out there that I found. Perhaps I will pick up some soft lead points. I notice they are a little more in cost compared to the FMJ and HP which are the same price. Perhaps I will move up to another brand like Bear or if I can ever find the Golden Tiger.

Got some Geco ammo. Not Russian but beautiful brass. These are not sealed in the sense you can see the protectant like some of those Russian rounds.

I have mostly Wolf Military Classic and Brown Bear ammo along with some rather vintage Chinese Norinco rounds. Accuracy is just fairly average for all three out of my Hungarian FEG SA 85 M. No trigger time with Golden Tiger.

From what I understand the Chinese Norinco rounds were the best ammo. The cooper washed ones that Clinton banned.

I still have 1500 rds of Norinco ammo
It is corrosive-I cleaned my rifle & never had a problem.
I miss the 8 cents cost of this ammo.

I used to only buy Golden Tiger. This was back when it was .17 per round. It's great ammo, but I am having a hard time now paying .28 per round for the same steel cased ammo. I would buy the Vympel white box or Wolf/Tula, whatever is cheapest, or if you reload, I can make my own loads for about the same. Unfortunately 7.62 bullets are not very cheap although some guys use the Berrys/Extreme plated rounds but they disintegrate if you push them over 1500/1600 fps, so powder puff loads only that may not cycle your rifle.

For today .28 per round is good. Of course nothing is as good as it was back in time.

I had a 1,000 rounds of it back in the day. I shot it all up thinking it was junk ammo. Little did i know and found out it was one of the best shooting stuff. I should have noticed as it was very accurate. Now you can't get it because of CLINTON ban. only on secondary market. Just as difficult to get it as that Golden Tiger ammo.

I put a lot of Norinco 7.62x39 through SKS's back in those days before the Clinton ban. Still have a little of that around, but a few years ago I stocked up on Wolf and Tula thinking I may as well get a lifetime supply now because in the future it's either gonna be unavailable or more expensive. Can't recall ever having a dud with any of it and I've also chronographed all 3 brands and in my experience they are all loaded to about the same level, as they are all nearly identical velocities. Never noticed any great differences in accuracy between them either. All this was also non-corrosive; or at least that's what the packaging said, and I've never seen anything to make me think otherwise.

The problem is now you can't find Norinco cooper coated ammo or the Golden Tiger ammo. Bear is available and the Wolf and nothing but Tulammo is all that is around.

They are the place in Stillwater. If you've already contacted them, then you are more apprised of their policies than me. I've only bought online from them.

Golden Tiger also has a website. Perhaps you can find more dealer info from them.

I couldn't get any active activity from the Golden Tiger website. Is the SB Ammo website safe and secure to order on-line? I usually call my orders in but they do not take phone orders. Only on-line orders. You haven't had any problems with doing on-line ordering with them?

What is the consensus here if you were able to get the Golden Tiger 7.62 ammo? Get it in FMJ, HP or Soft Point? I am not even sure if it does come in these 3 configurations since it is so difficult to find.
