How come everybody FUs anything Chinese but we give the Russians a pass? Sure it’s going to suck for awhile for everyone who’s been buying their cheap crap ammo, but maybe it’s time for some accountability.

That 40% number is very likely not correct. SAAF shows 2020 import totals was about 3.5 billion rounds of ammunition, of which 750 million was from Russia. However it does not break down whether that is centerfire or rimfire. At the same time most sources I've seen put the domestic production at about 5 billion centerfire plus another 3.5 billion of rimfire. Even if we assume all the imported ammo is centerfire, at most Russia under 10%. Still it is definitely the majority of steel ammo you generally see on shelves and pulling 3/4 billion rounds of ammunition out of the supply chain will have an impact at least for the immediate future. I don't expect we will see a lot of bulk alternatives for 7.62x39, 5.45x39, or 7.62x54r anytime soon.

I remember the days of Chinese Norinco ammunition selling for $2.75/20 rounds of 7.62x39... now it appears I'll look back fondly several years from now about the bygone days of $6/20 Russian ammo.

When Obama banned Sigias and such I saw this as the logical next step. I stocked up then, prices were low and Ray Charles could have seen this coming. If you’re surprised by this you haven’t been paying attention. I just expected it 5-6 years ago. I still have plenty of some Russian calibers, plenty.

I also started paying attn, lots of this “Russian” ammo isn’t any more Russian than my F150.

I do wish it would keep coming, I like low ammo prices, who doesn’t. I also understand not finically supporting the enemy, and they are most definitely a enemy of the US.

Honestly, this will most definitely affect me, I also accept what I cannot change and will lose zero sleep over this. Partly because it’s a perfectly reasonable decision not to fund the enemy, partly because it took several years longer than I thought it would.

Because Russia is a different kind of super power, with less power. China’s communist party has made it clear they want to take over the world. They undercut every industry with slave labor attempting to kill our businesses. And they’re succeeding. We don’t even make our own clothes. China is forcing their tentacles into every part of the world, not to mention the cyber world. How many of our politicians do they control? Fang Fang anybody? The CCP is in everything we do and they are rarely held accountable (probably because of who they control) Do the research and you’ll see that us buying Russian ammo is not really a threat to our country.
