Russian sks

About 15 years ago I bought a 150 dollar sks. It has been in the closet ever since. A friend recently said it is worth more than 150. I looked it up and it is a 1952 Tula with the factory rework stamp and all matching numbers and the blade bayonet. I literally shot one magazine out of it and it is in pretty nice shape. Any ideas of roughly what it is worth ?

Probably $300 and up. That sounds about right to me for a Russian SKS in excellent condition.

$300-450 depending on the part of the country. There is a premium for excellent condition Russian SKS' right now.

I have a 1954 Russian Izhevsk SKS. My father in law gave it to me for Christmas a few years ago. It had never been fired when he gave it to me. He bought it in 1992 for 90 bucks. I see them now going for around 300, so your Tula could only go for more. Do you have any pictures? That would help with an estimation greatly.

Is the bolt shiny or is it blued?
Laminated or normal stock?

This was $425 with a sling and stripper clips. This is higher than usual because I live in comiefornia.

$250-300 for an arsenal refinish would be a rough estimate, not seeing the rifle its hard to say for sure.

I paid $375 for my "unfired" (of course they are all factory tested so unfired isn't really true) Tula '54 a couple years ago. Its not an arsenal refinish, has all matching parts and its also marked with a "1" on the front sight which I read somewhere means that it achieved high accuracy rating when factory tested. I just happened to get a smoking deal on mine, I'm sure I could get a lot more than than what I paid for it if I sold it now. She's simply a safe queen, I have cheaper SKS's to plink with, I plan on keeping this one for display purposes only.

I've never seen one look that good. I'd probably pay 300 for that.

Mine looks similar but with a sling. In the factory refinish would they have painted the bolt and carrier ? They look like they were shiny and then painted? Should one not shoot such guns as pictured above and described in original post?

here in oregon the sks has gone up in price. gunshow had fair yugos going for $209

If the bolt carrier is painted blue/black and the finish is matte black instead of shiny blue then it would probably be worth around $300. If the bolt carrier is silver (unpainted) and the finish is orig. it could fetch around $400. That is what I am seeing in this area anyway.
I wouldn't worry about shooting it, I will shoot my non-refurbed Russian SKS, but if I had a Yugo I suppose I would shoot that instead.
