rusty magazine?

I just received a steel magazine in the mail, it was used and it had slight amounts of rust. it was expected, but how is the best way to re-paint? dissassemble, sand and remove paint and rust, and spraypaint?

i bought some used ar mags that had rust spots, i just used some wd40 and some light sand paper to clean the rust off and repainted with black krylon camo paint. the springs and followers where still good . i don't know if that's the right way to do it .

should i use a paint like rustoleom thats meant for metal and outdoor applications?

wouldn't hurt ,probably a good idea

I'd park it and then use some kind of moly paint on it, which would likely stand up better than most other paints.
