Was at the range today and was able to pickup a couple hundred once fired Federal 45acp brass. There was a bunch of 9 mm as well so took it. When I was going through it at home I found a couple dozen of 9mm that looked like they just came out of a tumbler.
They were these SB nontox. Tried to deprime them but my RCBS universal deprive pin would not work. That’s when I saw the flash holes in them are half the size of any other.
I’ve never seen these and not sure if they can be deprived but none of my decappers will work.
But they sure burn clean though.

I took a good look at them today and the flashhole must be half the size of any other 9 mm case I have. Anyways be careful as there is no way any decap pin I have will work.

Same with headstamps 1K or F&S (Igman-Bosnia) kiss your decapping pins goodbye! These usually stand out with red prime sealer.

Just drill out the flash hole through the case mouth before you deprime.

Tada! Clean brass with larger flash holes.

Problem solved! :D

Reeferman.. Have you tried to measure the hole size .... say with the shank end of a drill bit ...
The reason I ask is Speer 357 SIG brass has very small hole size too .... RCB S sent me a supply of pins for that brass that worked very well...

I will when I get some time and bring my drill set home from work. It’s not high on my list as these few are the only ones I have and hopefully the last. It’s amazing though that those cases look like they just came out of a tumbler after being fired.

I have used 1K and F&S brass with my Lee Universal Decapping die with no significant problems. When the pin meets the opening of the flash hole, I just slowly but firmly press on my press' lever in a uniform motion and the primer pops out. Once decapped, I open the priming hole to just under standard dimensions with an appropriately sized drill bit. After that, I treat it like any other case and so far they have performed exactly like any other case (perhaps better because they're the only cases I own that have the flash holes deburred on both top and bottom).

The pins RCBS sent me are .047" pins,
I was just wondering if they were smaller than these pins ....
You know ... just in case I run into some brass like you have .... Shared knowledge ...

The smallest drill bit I have is .054” and it won’t fit in the flash hole. Smallest decap pin I have is .068”. So I will just put them in a coffe can and if I get anymore will add to the can. Maybe someday they can be used.

Those go in my non stock Ziploc and once I get about a thousand pieces I trade them out at the local gun and pawn for some powder.

Good to know ... I wonder why RCBS chose the ..047" to send . ... They are really tiny compared to the regular small pins ....

I sanded down a drill bit shank to fit the Speer brass .... never measured it except to try it in the Speer hole .... Still using the made pin even though RCBS sent the smaller ones ....

I don’t know about the newest Speer brass but havn’t had any issues with it last while unless they have changed.
