Anybody remember when the last of those was made?
I had a computer crash and don't know where it was I used to go to check S&W SN's anymore.

According to the SCSW, the last of the -2's was made in 1981. The -3 revision started in '82 with the elimination of the counterbored cylinder and pinned barrel.

Thanks, I finally found a place with a SN list.
From it the one I just got should be a 1980 vintage.
It's an 8" Nickle plated model, the old Dirty Harry one. :)
A friend had it in his store for ages and I finally broke down and decided to get it.

Here's my Model 29, I had it engraved. It's a nice shooter, too!
