Has anyone bought the new S&W 327 TR? I sure would like to have one. Just wondering how much the gun shops are selling them for. MSRP is $1310.00, I think that's a little salty. Being just 31 oz. and not having a slide to absorb some of the recoil, I just wondered how much recoil it would have. I,m not real big on the accessary rail I just think it would look better without it. I've never dealt with moon clips before. Do you need a tool to unload the clips? The article I read said you could use the moon clips or loose ammo, sweet!

Are you referring to the 327 TRR8 (Tactical Rail Revolver)?

I have one.

Both rails are removable, and it looks good either way (I have a messed up sense of style). Recoil with .38 loads is mild- the N frame and Hogue monogrips (standard) are incredibly controllable, and it feels like shooting a .22. I haven't tried full house .357 loads in it, and I may never do that; I doubt it will be a very comfortable proposition, but it should be doable. The moon clips make for fast loading/reloading/unloading, but yes, a de-mooner can be useful for that. And as the article said, you can skip using them entirely with no problems- the chambers are relieved on the ejector side for the clips, but are normal on the outside for catching the rim of the round.

I paid about $1150 or so for mine, but my gun shop is a little high (I put up with it since they're far friendlier than the cheaper places).

No, I was referring to the 327 45 ACP Thunder Ranch Model. Just wondering if anyone had one yet and what they thought of it. Also how much they had to give for it considering the MSRP is $1310.00. It has a 4" barrel.

Yep, I sit corrected. It's the 325 TR. Anyway, same questions.

Yeah, that's the 325TR. Sorry for the confusion.

I'd imagine much that can be said for pricing will be the same. The 327 TRR8 has the same MSRP as the 325 TRR, so the street price should be similar- anywhere between $900 and $1200, depending on how inexpensive your shop tends to be. As far as the moon clips, I can't vouch for the 325TR's mechanism, nor can I vouch for the recoil (but I'd imagine it should still be manageable; the N frame is very easy to control).
