    Needing suggestions for a place to send my 681 4" for a tune up and barrel shortening 3". Its a police turn in

    Yes, you can send it to me. I guarantee a fast turnaround...within five years! ;)

    In all seriousness, it might be less expensive to buy a Ruger Speed-Six and carry it. My Speed-Six has the finest action of any revolver I've ever had. I can't say it would exceed the action of a tuned S&W, but it would certainly equal it.

    The 681 I bought years ago was a fabulous gun and selling it is one reason I stopped getting rid of my guns. I figured I'd always be able to get one, but then S&W began cutting corners on its guns and I can no longer get the beautiful wood grips, chromed hammer/trigger and so forth.

    Speed-Sixes are strong, easier to carry and you can buy Pachmayr round-butt grips.

    Oh, and if you have any photos of your 681, I'd like to see them.
