Found one at my LGS for $679. It's beautiful, but is it a good price?

    They're holding it until tomorrow.

Thanks in advance for the responses.

Around here (Central Florida) that would be high by at least $100.

Two years ago I paid about $800 for a new one in MN. Great gun. The interchangeable front sight swaps with my 625JM gold bead.

thats under new wholesale price and you are getting it in the box. that is an incredible gun and I would suggest you buy it before it finds a new home.

    That's a good price.

If Japle can find the SSR model at $579, then he's sitting on a gold mine. I'd consider $579 to be a good price even for the standard 686.

This is what I've been hoping to hear. It's set aside for me and I'll go tomorrow and put money on it.

    Thanks!

That goes for around $849 in my neck of the woods. I don't even think you can get a used one for that much.

But I am giving consideration of moving back to Florida if prices are that different.

That's a fair price and a great gun.

Fair price. I'd buy that, and I'm broke!

Be sure to let us know how you like it.

You got a 686SSR for that amount or just a regular 686?

I have seen people spend upwards of $850 for a used SSR. They are not just the standard 686 and they don't make that many of them each year. It isn't some llimited edition distributor esclusive, but it is just about everything you could want in a combat, bet-your-life on it revolver. That is a great price for a NIB SSR. Great Find!

    SSR.

The dealer didn't have one in stock and special-ordered it for me.

What dealer I am willing to let them order one for me then ship it to my ffl. Even with paying the ffl fee I would save $330.

    Red Dot Shooting, Inc. 321-821-3388.

For all I know, he may have gotten a "holliday special" deal on the gun, since it was just before Xmas. That deal might not be available now, 9 months later.

The M686 SSR lists for $969 new. I paid $500 for a "regular" M686-2 so I would say $679 is not a slamming price but a good price for that revolver.
