Because I'm bored and thinking of building a Franken-Wesson.
Donor is a 629-5 (8" barrel)
I have a .45 ACP cylinder and looking to install a barrel. My original thought was to buy a barrel blank and make my own. Then a stainless Ruger barrel ended up on the parts swapper portion of gun broker.

So My primary purpose with this piece will be bullseye shooting. I'd like something near 5 or 6". The Ruger barrel is 7-1/2. Thought I could cut it down.
So does anyone know the thread diameter and pitch of the two pistols?
Ruger Red Hawk and an N-Frame Smith.

A stock barrel blank is still an option but haven't decided quite yet.
Thoughts and comments welcome

Maybe I'm a little off today but your post is extremely confusing to me. Are you wanting to install the Ruger barrel into the S&W N-frame? I don't know their respective pitches but the Ruger shank will be significantly larger than the S&W's. The outside diameter will also be much larger and the rib will probably not line up very well. In other words, it'll look goofy as hell, even if it does manage to get installed. I'm sure there's a way to get what you want. Be very specific and tell us exactly what you're trying to accomplish.
