I had some free time yesterday and as usual I found myself wandering through a gun shop. I ran across an ~80% S&W M&P 5" .38 for $179. I was tempted to pick it up. I really dont need it...but after picking up my 1st S&W revolver (4" 28-2) in july I"M ADICTED! As always, any input is appreciated!

Look at the area of the crane and see if it is a 10-4 or later.
They are worth $180.00 and are actually some of the best buys in used handguns right now.

Round or square butt, pre-war, post-war, model numbered, P&R?????

Give a serial number some of us would find the date of manufacture.

It was squared butt and it was old...I'm guessing pre-war.It looked like a victory minus the phosphate finish and laynard. I will get a serial # when I'm back in the shop and I will check out the crane like Onmilo suggested!
