Hi All
I saw one today for a fair price (What I thought was fair $390.) its used and only has one mag and the box. I know I had read about them having some sort of issues. But I can't recall what the deal was. Anyone ever use one of these? Good? Bad or indiferant? I am thinking for the money I can carry it and not worry about the finnish getting scratched or messing it up like I would a true Walther. Do the parts interchange with a standard PPK/S?

Thoughts?
Thanks
Wild Bill

There was a recall due to a possible problem with the safety system.
If in doubt if yours was sent in, contact S&W and after you give them the serial number, they can tell you if it was.

Most parts interchange, but some don't. As example grips don't interchange with the older guns.
After some start up problems, it looks like S&W is getting the bugs out and making good guns.

As with all PP series guns, be prepared to experiment to find ammunition your specific gun "likes".
The PP series seems to like being run with a little more lube than other guns. Grease is good for defense guns since it doesn't dry out or run off like liquid lubes do.

For magazines, buy genuine factory mags. Aftermarket tend to cause problems.

I have one and love it. Mine went through the recall, they mark them with a little dot on the top of the beaver tail.

I have quite the opposite experience with ammo on this gun. Rounds that have issue in our TCPs/LCPs and any other 380 we are testing generally get eaten by the PPK with no issue. Its a fun gun too and relatively accurate. It is heavy for its size but solid as a rock.

The advice on genuine magazines is very true, never use cheap in the PPK...

Should have had 2 mags. 1 finger rest one with out. Their Hit and Miss in reliability
I will buy Interarms but not S&W My Interarms has been reliable with all brands of ammo.

George Dennis had it almost right: Go here:

http://www.waltherforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=7

It's the PP/PPK sub-forum on the Walther Forums and will provide you with thread after thread regarding the S&W-made PPKs, both good and bad.

A fast summary: The question depends entirely who you ask based on individual experience, but the issue seems to boil down to hit-and/or-miss: If you get a good one, bravo. If you don't, well, un-bravo. There seems to be plenty examples of both out there.
