Anybody has a picture of S&W Model 41 converted to external hammer? Apparently, an old knife maker made a beautiful conversion of Model 41 to external hammer. The picture was published in one of magazines or books. I always wanted a nice 41, but would like to have it with external hammer. Since my youth (bad experience) I just do not like and have no desire to have handgun with internal hammer or striker.

I wish if somebody is going to publish a book with all those unusual but excellent conversions old smiths did on handguns, like converting 22 LR S&W revolver to 22 Hornet, making 1911 with inversed rails, or the most famous of all; Keith #5. They are all out of ordinary gunsmiths’ masterpieces.

Thanks, Onty.

The knifemaker is Bob Loveless. I don't know if he is still in business other than advising other knifemakers how to do his styles.
I have a short article about his conversion of the M41 to exposed hammer in the 1971 Guns & Ammo Annual and a longer one somewhere else that I cannot lay hands on this morning.

I cannot imagine who you would go to for one like it.

If you just must have a .22 with exposed hammer, the CZ Kadet is a good one or you could put a Marvel Unit 1 conversion on a 1911 frame.
