There shouldn't be any doubt in your mind by now that you got a very nice deal. Congratulations!

When you see the ragged hole that 6 shots produce, I bet you will become more kindly disposed to wheel guns.

I’m another who is eager to see a target or two!

It appears yours has the stainless steel rear sight which was on the earlier run of guns until Police Officers complained about the glare in the sunlight. Found on guns produced the first 1 1/2 years. Book value says the ss rear sights should add $100 to the value but I don't see it in the real world. A lot of people change the stainless to blue sights for the same reason the Police complained. They are hard to see in sunlight. Replacement sights are easy to find. I have a bunch if you ever want to change yours.

This post made me spend far too long in the Search function for this December 2009 post I made:

"Been looking for a S&W .357 Mag K-frame to keep my other K's company.
Seems to be that the only ones I can find are in the $400+ range.
Been looking at a nice tight 2.5" barrel no-dash Mod. 66, pinned & recessed 3-screw. With tax out the door it will be darn near $450. Am I crazy for remembering these were at least $150 cheaper a few years ago? Or has the value on these things gone up that much?
Thinking about going back after Xmas to look at it again."

So you paid a nice 2009 price for a first issue M66 in great condition. Be happy!

Wouldn't have thought twice about getting that Model 66, even if it was going for more money than that!

Congrats on a most outstanding buy!

Yes, the price has gone up that much.
Pricing reflects the obamanation scare & never went back to pre-obama prices.

I wouldn't even consider that for current production, but for a no-dash P&R?
Ya, I'd jump all over it.

I just happened to be watching Hicock45's video on the gun and want an old, well cared for one even more now.

    A fun review:

You got a great deal! I would have grabbed that gun right away for $450.

That was a sweet deal on a very fine revolver.

I own a S&W Model 66-4. It is my favorite. It sits at the Crown of Glory - my bed side. I trust it that much. You did real good.

I paid $500 for a nice 66-1 in July of last year, your buy was even better than mine!

That’s why I didn’t waste thirty seconds deciding to buy it! :) I truly didn’t need it, but the condition and cost meant I had to have it.

    Stay safe.

It's the kind of opportunity, once capitalized upon, even if I were I to find a conflict of space or funds.... SOMETHING would get turfed for the 66!
