anyone close enough is invited to join at least myself for a little try the new guns.

for $25 they will give you any gun in the case, a box of rounds and some targets. the idea would be to rent a few different ones and trade around.

you can also purchase additional ammo if you want. and of course your own toys are welcome. i

f you don't have a mass license to carry you can still transport your guns to the range locked in the trunk as long as you don't stop elsewhere along the way.

me, i gotta try that .50 and after i shoot my one round you can try it...

hans, if you start driving now you'll be there in plenty of time, beside i think most of the states you'll be passing through require guns. don't they?
 
S&W remains on the boycott list until they get their "agreement" dumped.

That being the case, they could truck the mess up to my back yard, load it, and hand it to me for free firing, and I'd be tempted to give it back by inserting it where...

Good PR doesn't constitute correct action.
 
well ouch for them as they try their best to walk the tightrope.

ive seen the agreement but not in its entirety, i felt it to be almost toothless as i scanned through it, i'll take another look some day.

i think it was an attempt to show that the gun manfucturer has concern for the opinion of the general public in regards to "making guns safer" and will do its best to alleviate their fears. or at least not make a big battle over it.

i still like the product and i still like the peeps at the range, bunch of great folks.

no time to discuss this further, i'm going to take the opportunity to review the agreement again and see what i think.

No offense, 280, but you're right; you really need to re-read that agreement.

i quickly read through a major portion again, maybe i'm not getting it but i don't see any big deals in there, first off it rules out any gun already being manufactured, a lot more of it reads "if the technology is available" which a lot of it is not and may never be. i don't see how any law abiding citizen could be so overly upset about this, most of it seems like basic gun safety to me.

theres a few minor points but i could understand s&w signing,

again to present themselves as a manufacturer who is concerned with these issues and wants to try to be part of the solution.

so, you're all fired ready to tell me to boycott but you havent given me any solid reasoning to do so.

my mind is totally open on this so fire away, maybe i'll see your side of it, presently i don't...

i'm also too new around here to have seen all the threads mentioned, so let's go through it again?

ok,,ok,,,

just so we understand s&w's position, they are a business, first and foremost, i'd say they did what they thought best for the overall health and profitability for their company.

remember, there is only about 4-5% of the population who own and carry handguns, s&w has to appease them, naturally, they are customers, but s&w also has to deal with the other 95% who are saying "guns are bad, we need to do something"

we know they're wrong, guns arent bad, people are, the non gunners don't know this or refuse to accept it.

so i think they (s&w) decided, well, we'll tick off a few customers but its better than ticking off the rest of the population and have them attack us even more aggressively, the lawyers fees would easily outpace the loss from a few disgruntled customers.

so in this case maybe good pr is not the most correct action in your mind but it was the best action for s&w who really are caught between the rock and the hard place we've all heard about.

just for ha ha's... out of the 5% of the legal handgun owners in the usa, only about 3% of those can shoot with any consistent accuracy

that goes back to the comment on lack of education, we don't teach kids how to shoot in this country anymore, pc problems.

that could change abruptly if the middle east decides to spill itself over onto our shores, suddenly everybody would become a pro-gunner.

anyone ever hear how nyc back in the 80's destroyed tens of thousands of dollars worth of high quality target rifles when they discontinued the target shooting program in the PUBLIC school system?

my high school had a rifle team, but not no more :fire:
