    Hi all,

Recently i've been looking at AR's and I'm falling more and more in love with them :)

I live in Belgium, so the only AR's available are Sabre Defence, Oberland Arms (quite expensive) and Heckler&Koch ("quite expensive" is an understatement)

At first, I was looking at a more "compact", tacticool version, with 16" barrel, ("M5 FlatTop") but I might want to start shooting matches with it, and then I want the longer barrel and sight radius. I won't be jumping out of HMMVV's or Blackhawks any time soon, but I do like the look of the more tactical versions.

So I thought I might get the A4 rifle, because I'd really like to have the removable carry handle with a picatinny rail underneath. But as it is something that will have to last a while, I want the best I can get, so maybe it's better to buy the A3 National Match rifle?

So I'm still in doubt if I should get the A4 or A3NM. The A3 has floated handguards, 1in8inch 410 stainless barrel (instead of 1in9 Vanadium), the barrel is heavier, 2 stage match trigger etc. Does this make a big difference?

I was also wondering if the carry handle was removable on the A3. The picture on the site looks like it isn't, but the text next to it says "Sabre A3 Flat Top Upper". So which is it, or does this "Flat Top" mean something else?

So, which should I get? :p

Any input on the subject is appreciated :)

I'm a 20 year old college student, so I don't have money now to "just buy the other one too", I want this purchase to be right and last me for a while.

    Thanks in advance,
    Boris

Try contacting Sabre Defense, either the picture is a mistake or the description is wrong (I'm betting they have the wrong picture up).

We call them ordonnance-matches, mostly shot with post-1945 service-rifle designs, prone with sling at 100m. I don't have the exact rules here but it's basically a prone match using semi-automatic rifles with iron sights.

just called sabre defence and the carry handle is removable on the A3 National Match. Wizzamen was right, the picture is a mistake.

Very friendly people on the phone, and no holding or waiting to talk to someone :)
