Same primer for .223 & 6.8 SPC?

Assuming small pocket 6.8 brass, can anyone recommend a single primer that will work well for both cartridges?

CCI makes a Standard #400 SR primer I have used in AR-15's & Ruger Mini-14's since 1970 with perfect results.

They also make a #41 Mil-Spec primer if you are concerned about such things.

Small rifle, regular or mag depending on powder. For the most part a primer is a primer. Follow the same precautions that are out there for the .223 with the 6.8 such as avoiding the 6 1/2 Rem primers.

+1 on the cci small rifle primmers I use cci #400 primers for my ar platforms. They would be fine for 6.8 spc loads as well.

Yup, good call. All Remington and S&B 6.8 brass is large rifle primed. Old SSA (at least a few years now) had both. The majority of SSA and all Hornady is small rifle.
