Does anyone know of a sand pit or other outdoor free place to shoot in southern NH? Legally.

Another NO.

It hasn't gotten quite as built up here as Massachusetts is, but we're getting there. Spaces are small and people aren't as far away as one might think.

It is USUALLY legal to shoot on National Forest's. But you need to check local rules and laws. Even then there aren't many places in the Eastern US where there is room to shoot rifles safely. You might be able to find enough room to safely shoot handguns.

Another problem is that you need to pick up any trace of trash. That means all targets and empty brass.

If my son had Not settled into the Memphis Midtown area years ago, my wife and I might have considered living in NH.

We stayed ---a year ago--- at a B&B in sw NH (close to VT, where my bro-in-law lives).

So, Mr. Override, you moved into your son's basement, I conclude. BZ!

Until today I have been at home in southern NH and can confirm there aren't many sandpit areas that aren't actually in the business of selling sand. Any open space you find is likely to be either wetland or a park. You're pretty much limited to joining a fish 'n game club, of which there are plenty. I can personally recommend Nashua Fish and Game, and Pelham Fish and Game. Both have 600 yard ranges, which is nice.

That said, I am in the process of moving to Florida, where there is less snow and more family.
