No range report yet but I couldn't resist wasting 50 rounds to see how it felt, in the freezing rain in the dark. It feels really nice in my hands. Save the elitist 1911 banter, this thing was $350 including the new grips!

Congratulations on the first 1911, carterbeauford. My choice of grips would have been the Hogue rubber wraparounds with the finger grooves, but to each his own. Hope you enjoy it, and the ones that come after it (and believe me, there will be more! :D) Is that a parkerized or blued finish?

Congratulations! I got my first not too long ago and have fallen in love. Now, whenever I hold anything else, my hand rejects it and wants a 1911 again.

    Here's to many happy rounds!

I've searched for 40 years to find the perfect pistol and tried most of them. That all said and done, there is nothing that has even come close to the fit and feel of a 1911. You have a great gun that is the standard by which all others are compared.

I have a RIA and for the money, it has to be one of the best values in handguns today. You won't be disappointed!

For the record, Santa brought you a gun based on a 95 year old design. This is a 95 year old gun: http://users.adelphia.net/~navy87guy/M1911.html

Enjoy your piece of the Rock!

    1911? A classic!

For some reason the 1911 has continued to sell like hotcakes. Given that fact, there must be something good about it, right? To be certain, the 1911 makes a wonderful gift. If you like your 1911 even half as-much-as I like mine, you're sitting there in your easy chair, holding it and grinning ear-to-ear.

Regarding the breakin period, I know a lot of people who claim that one should fire 150 to 300 rounds through a 1911 for the first time to break it in...bull hockey! I say clean it frequently and break it in slowly with full cleanings every 50 rounds. What's in a rush, right? I just don't see the need of abusing a firearm, especially a great firearm.

    Congratulations!

Too bad. Maybe you were naughty this year?

Be nicer this coming year and you might wind up getting a new one next time.

    It's worth a try.
