I am looking at a Sauer Model 200 satin wood stock w/ factory sights in 30-06 caliber. I don't know much about these rifles. Any input would be great.

Mine in 30-06 shoots .75" 5 rd groups very regular with good handloads. The trigger is adjustable, but came at ~ 3lbs from the factory. The bolt is the smoothest I`ve felt in a rifle, and the safety in the trigger guard where it can be worked as you ready to shoot is great.
To sum it up, I like mine......:D

Oh yah, you can swap out barrels for other cartridges of the same head size with the removal of three small allen screws. A nice feature.

Have Sauer Model 200 Need wrench to switch barrels

I have the Colt Sauer Model 200. I understand that it only needs one hex wrench to swap barrels. But I have no wrench. Do you know what size the hex is?

    Thanks

I have a Sig SHR970 but can't recall the Allen wrench size and away from home so can't check - no doubt it's metric, why not just try your metric Allen wrenches until you find the right size?

Back to the OP's question - I don't own a Sauer 200, but understand from a couple of folks I know who do own one that it is in every way a quality rifle.

Sorry, I'm a little late joining this discussion.

I bought my Sauer 200 way back in '87 in .243. If I sold all my long guns but one, this would be the keeper.

I get similar groups to Ol' Joe. Twice, I've shot 4-shot groups less than 0.5" with handloads.

I kick myself for not buying other barrels. I was always "going to" but never have.
