OK guys this may be a stupid Question, but do these guns have wooden stocks? also what kind of wood is it made from right out of the box.I bought one a few days ago and the stock was painted black. If its walnut I want to take off all paint and (I have a wood shop)take it down and make it a beautiful walnut stock. It's an older model and when I get it the way I want,it will be a very nice gun to add to my collection.I also wan to kill a few deer with it.I have a farm and there's plenty of deer here in VA.

AFAIK, the 110E was an "Economy" version of the standard 110. The pics of them I've seen all had wooden stocks, but I would not expect to see a nice walnut stock under that paint. Its probably the most economical wood they could spec out for that particular gun.

wooden stock

are you guys sure that it had a birch stock? I was hoping it had a walnut stock.

Birch is an economical wood often used for inexpensive stocked rifles. Savage isn't known for having nice wood on their rifles but in recent times have a few Classic models that have walnut on them. Yours is most likely birch, a good cheap wood for stock making. If you are looking for some figure get a laminate, they are nothing more than cheap birch plys sandwiched together and when cut at various depths they have contrasting color or figures
