I'm curious about your experiences with older takedown models of the Savage 99. How accurate are they, and how repeatable is the zero after you take the barrel out and reinstall it?

    Many thanks for any reports.

I sold my 1919 .250-3000 TD (thats the model name!) that I had banging around the family for many years. It was 80% or so , tight but a few glitches but the barrel was not loose(quite the contrary ) . It had a nice tang sight and printed 4 inches at 100 yards with 100 grain fresh factory fodder. It did not appear to move very much when taken down.
