so i picked up a savage barreled action that i am going to be changing to 260 remington the question i have is that it was marked 110 on the barrel but it was chambered for a .243 and the action screw spacing was an odd 4.5 so can anyone tell me is this a long or short action? looking to get a scope base and dont want to order the wrong one. thanks

older sav 110 only had one length - long
they put a bkock in the magazine for short cartridges

I'm pulling this out of my.... and it's late, but here tis.

Measurement dimensions, from center to center(c/c) of action screw holes.

Long Action...All of them over the years....5.062" c/c

Gen3 short action, 2006 to today....4.400" c/c

Gen2 short action, 1998-2005.... 4.275" c/c

Gen1 short action, 1959-1988....4.522" c/c

Looks like you may have a Gen1 short action, made between 1959 and 1988.
