I have to give credit when it's due.
I was cleaning my new Savage 22-250 with Boyd's stock and noticed a crack in the grip area. This gun has has less than 50rds thru it and has been in the soft case since day one.
One phone call and a picture sent to Savage and I had a new stock within a week.
I wondered if I might need to plan on getting a different stock, so I asked if this was a common problem. The nice lady assured me it wasn't. So, kudos to Savage for great service and we'll see if this stock holds up or I have to go a different route.🙂

I'll advise that it pays to oil the laminate stocks so that the wood doesn't dry and crack so bad. But I too have only good things to say in my very limited dealings with their cs!

You know, I have wondered if oil was good for them or if it would affect the glue in the laminate layers. I have't done anything to this one, I'll have to research this a bit.

Yes, the wood cracks away from the glue or something like that ("delaminate and crack"), I just got a stock in that was very specific about the care of those laminates, I'd expect that would apply to all laminates? I threw that care tag away, but I'm pretty certain it said to oil at LEAST once a year? I'll check the website and send you whatever I find, I know they also recommend glass bedding.

I have had only one experience with Savage cs. I had a 93 22WMR and hated the ugly stock. Bought a Boyd's and found that the Savage triggered guard was cast or moulded into the stock. Called savage and the nice lady took my card number and the bottom metal was in my hands the next week.
Now, if I could get a replacement barrel for the model 95 commemorative...

WOW! I'm impressed you got them to answer the phone or respond to an email. I could never get them on the phone or to respond to a couple of emails. I'm glad to hear they took care of you.

They have sent me parts without cost several times over the years.
Wow. They won't send me a (very poorly designed) firing pin for a .22. It has to go to an FFL, who of course wants to add $.

The last Savage I will ever buy is still broke because they won't sell me a $20 part Ruger would have sent me for free.

I coach a high school trap shooting team. Had a young shooter with a cheap savage pump shotgun. The ejector and some parts fell out on the firing line.
I gathered the parts I could find and took it home. Called savage and was told it was not within the 1 year warranty but I could send it in and wait 6-8 weeks. I Explained the situation and the nice man said they want to support youth shooting sports and sent me the parts no cost in 2 days.

I'm not sure what parts they would refuse to ship, probably things that required sime machining or fitting. This is the second good experience I've had with them.
I bought a 110 Tactical a few years ago and the ball detent fell out of the bolt handle. They sent me a new bolt handle, no fuss.

Yeah my hat is off to savage My Target rifle when I get it the bottom metal wouldn’t take the mag so I contacted them they sent new bottom metal free of charge and it fit perfectly which was so nice I didn’t have to send it in

Savage is GTG in my opinion. There was a rifle I bought that had improperly drilled screw slots which they fixed when I sent it to them. They also attached a nice 20MOA rail free as I had a bit of trouble with the post office! Not saying that they'll add parts in just any situation, just that they WILL take care of you!

Not a fan of Boyds or Savage, so yeah........I have the "combo" LOL

Savage MKII TR .22lr.

The rifle does shoot decent.
But it needed some work and better parts to make it what it should have been from the get go.

While customer service is important, it seems as though more manufacturers are making the customers do the QC.
