I have the .22 FVSS (heavy varmint stainless barrel). It originally came with a synthetic stock. I bought a new wood stock and went to put it on last night and realized - duh! I don't have a trigger guard. Is this something I will have to get directly from Savage? Is there another source for this trigger guard?

DIP- Great people to do business with. Call first and explain exactly what the situation is.

You can also buy the bottom metal stuff from Savage. I switched my MkII to a BTV stock and had to do the same thing. The parts cost me about $35 or so. There are a lot of links to the parts around. Let me know if you can't find them and I'll show you. Some people like the DIP parts better but there isn't a lot to either set of parts really. I'd just call up Savage and ask for the parts department and tell them what you need. They should fix you right up. And you will like your rifle a LOT more with the new stock. Savage synthetic stocks aren't very good.
