Been doing a little more Rimfire training and really enjoying the price of practice! 3 range trips in the last month with over 1500rnds expended!

So today I just picked up another rimfire...a Savage MKII BV 22LR at Cabela's. Threw on a scope (going to swap out the rings for lower ones later) and took a few pictures:

Thats the one i would like to have on my next rimfire rifle . How much is the rifle minus scope if you dont mind me asking ?

$299 + Tax you can get them from a few online places (such as Bud's) for $297 + transferr fee.

I have the same rifle with the green laminate stock in .17HMR+ a Nikon Monarch. Super rifles, I understand your fondness for them.

Savage rifles are very hard to beat for the money. You will have to try a box of as many brands of ammo as you can to find the ammo it shoots best though. The price of said ammo means nothing either.
"....17HMR+..." Pricey stuff.

I have the same rifle. Shoots about 2moa with CCI Blazer 40gr, will need to feed it some 36gr and see if it likes that better.

The rifle has some trouble with extraction if you let the chamber and extractors get dirty. Searched online and this is very common -- using copper-washed lead is preferable to bare lead.

Also, the bolt was a little stiff locking up at first, but over the course of ~1500 rounds it lost a little paint between the bolt handle and the receiver and smoothed up nicely.

Ive also been thinking of picking up this rifle. How is the fit, finish, and all that?

Everything looks great on the rifle. Fit and finish are good. There's two things I'd change; he trigger guard is plastic and I wish it were metal and the floorplate isn't inlet into the stock. It's still a very sturdy well built rifle though and handels well.

Got that same thing with a factory thumbhole stock and cheap bundle deal scope I haven't replaced yet. I have gotten .8MOA 5 shot groups with it with Remington thunderbolts.

They're nice

I got a MkII BV last year and mounted a Weaver RV-7 on it. It's trying real hard to be my favorite 22LR. I like that Accutrigger. :)

Nice rifle. I think the BV is a best buy for the Savage. It gets you a solid laminate stock without hitting you with the price tag of some other models pushing you into CZ price ranges.
