A 45-year-old man was shot in the backside early Thursday morning after he broke into another man's Doe Street home, according to a Greenville Police spokesman.

Lt. Mike Gambrell said officers responded to 46 Doe St. about 12:30 a.m. today and found a man lying in the fetal position on the front porch. He had been shot in the buttocks, he said.

The homeowner told police that he was investigating a noise he heard in his living room when he saw a man jump up near the stove. The homeowner told police he fired as the intruder tried to jump out a window, Gambrell said.

The wounded man is in the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, Gambrell said. Charges are pending, he said.

I hate them backside shots -- especially when you got to explain how you were threatened by it.

Maybe it was a full moon.:D

In an old thread at TFL, I think I cited the speed at with an assailant can turn left, right or 180 degrees and the reaction time of the shooter. It's useful for investigators to consider when a BG is shot in the back. Don't think the home owner could even argue that the burglar turned around since he admitted to shooting him while he attempted to climb out the window. Opps. In a state like Calif., NJ, Mass & NY, it's a dangerous admission. In NV., you're probably O.K.
