Scheduled a Range Day for my office!

About a month ago, I scheduled a range day for my coworkers at a local indoor range to introduce/re-introduce them to handgunning. Out of the invitees, only one attended. Took my Ruger Mark II .22, my Sig P220ST and my P226ST. After a safety talk and rules discussion, I helped this person run through a few boxes of ammo and all three calibers. The person who came enjoyed it so much he had to mention it to the others who didn't attend.

Well, it's time again and I have put the invitation out again and at current, have over 50% of the office staff coming with me to the range on Friday!

I'm bringing the same pistols as above and another shooter (ex Force Recon) is bringing a GI .45, Beretta 92FS and a .22 target pistol so we can run two lanes. The group is currently at 8 people and climbing. The attendees range from moderately experienced to "has never touched a gun before in his life", with most having only touched a weapon once or twice in their lives.

I'm trying to rope in some of my buddies from the local PDs to come shoot as well, but no luck so far.

It's shaping up to be a fine week!

Of course we all know the 4 rules of safety but rule 5 must be stressed.
"Rule No.5: Never Talk Office While At The Range."
A few of us in my office try to go to the range whenever we get the chance and rule 5 is strictly enforced.

Excellent idea, good job for coming up with this, and possibly getting other involved into the shooting sports.

I hope everyone on this board will do something similar. FOr those of you who haven't tried something similar, there is no greater joy (to me) than teaching someone how to shoot.

I did something like this recently. Last Monday while at the Purdue Pistol/Rifle club meeting I was teaching a new member how to shoot pistol.

She was very nervous at first, having never shot a pistol before, but she quickly got the hang of it and was getting some impressive groups at 50 ft off the bench. She is definately hooked .

Update:

As it stands, very few people from my office are not going. Response to the range day is phenomenal and I've been asked to schedule one on a weekend so the clerical staff can shoot. The only reason they were not invited to this one is rotating lunch hour coverage that would omit them from being able to attend. One person has declined for reasons unknown, another only because he has to pick up his son from College (fall break). Everyone else is a go.

Most are newbies and I have to admit surprise that one of the VPs whom I thought totally uninterested, is coming along rather enthusiastically.

If I relocate to MN, I suppose I'll have to do the same thing there eh?

Thats great that you scheduled a range day for your office. My office however....we have people who here who think its okay to place a heating pack on a infection and use heat for a flare-up.

Maybe you should bring as paintball gun to work (after freezing the paint balls) and get em' when they do stupid stuff.

I have been pondering a new rule with the guys that work for me, they can either get a beat down, or paperwork when they mess up really good.

I am growing really tired of standing in front of the man at least once a week answering for my troops decisions (or lack thereof)! But that's what I get paid the big bucks for!
