Joe Demko, actually, I would prefer that school shootings were largely ignored by the media, just as I wish terrorist bombings were. Report it as a news even, then move on. With the breathless reporting, the endless interviews, the personal stories, the special graphics, the ominous music, the playing of the video over and over again, it makes it into a very glamorous thing. For a messed up kid, wanting to go out in a blaze of glory, or a terrorist wanting the most bang for the buck, the news media creates a ready medium.
And if the Republicans can manipulate gas prices so easily as to get them to come down just before an election, why did they let them get so high in the first place? High gas prices clearly damaged the President's approval rating. It just doesn't make any sense.
