I have just had the clip loading flange removed from a military 98 mauser. The base I have is a Leupold 49990 but it has only one rear mounting screw hole. What other base with two screw holes front and rear would suit my receiver.

To get a two hole rear mount you will need to go to a two piece mount. The Leupold/Redfield one piece is a great mount. The single rear mounting screw is sufficient. If you haven't D&T'd your receiver yet,be sure to do the front first and use the one piece mount to locate the forward rear screw hole. That way when you drill for the rear mount(2 pc) you will be properly spaced for any mount,1 or 2 pc, intended for Mauser M98.
