Of all places, Academy stocked this gorgeous carbine, so nice I had to get it. It's chambered in 7.62x39mm. I'd like to buy a scope for it, but I want to keep the classic look, nothing electronic or 'tactical'...

Any suggestions?

Gloss leupold 1-4x20 would look pretty spiffy on that carbine. Give it a miniature dangerous game rifle look.
If more magnification is desired id go with a 2-7x32/33, but probably no larger.

Thats just how it fits into my thinking of the rifle, caliber, and its looks.

The one I kept wanting for years, (when I had money, not in stock, no cash, available everywhere!), was the Redfield Revenge 2-7. I think that would be perfect. I've had a number of scopes on my 527M in 7.62x39mm, but she is just iron sights now. Also, the CZ mounts might not work well with every scope type, but there is, or was, an interesting work around CZ had, a Picatinny rail that mounted to the scope mounting points, so you could use any optic you wanted. I did that with a Bushnell and Weaver low mounts, worked just fine.

Depending on your use I would go with a Leupold 1-x, 2-7 or 3-9 depending on your use. I have one of the gloss 3-9x33 EFR scopes on my 527 american, mounted on talley rings, and it looks like it was made for the gun. I have gone back and forth about mounting a scope to my carbine... it would likely be one of those options or maybe a fixed 4x.

I have a Nikon Buckmasters 3x9x40mm on my 7.62x39mm 527 carbine and have been very happy with it and with American made ammo i have had amazing accuracy with the setup. Mine really likes Federal Power Shock SP's.

That scope would be a Prostaff 7 now i think.

These are good suggestions, thanks. I hadn't considered a small diameter objective but it sounds like a good idea.

I had a Weaver K2.5 on mine and switched to a Redfield Revolution 2-7x33. The Weaver was an old steel one and was so long that it actually had the adjustment knobs in front of the front scope ring! But both work(ed) well.

I have a Leupold 1-4x20 on mine.I really like the scope. It doesn't over power the looks of the carbine and keeps it light weight.

I have a leupold 2-7 compact on mine.with warne QR rings. Scope has a little less eye relief than most leupolds but doesnt matter on a light recoiling rifle
