I got my hands on an old daisy 880,the receiver is metal. It’s a cheapy but I’d like to put a scope on it and have a little fun. I’d like to get something as good as I can in a budget scope... definitely under $50. Any recommendations? Should I not bother?

Being a pumper, it won't be hard on a scope like many springers are. I don't have any model recommendations but I'd look for a scope that had an adjustable objective that wasn't too long/heavy. Remember to get mounts that will match up to the gun dovetail.

How's it shooting with the open sights?

I'm real happy with it so far, but so far I've only shot it fairly close range in the garage. Hoping to fix that soon!

It seems a lot more accurate with pellets than BBs but I assume thats the case with all air guns. It also seems less accurate when only using one pump. I I give it two or sometimes three it helps it a lot, and three might be the upper limit I want indoors at close range.
