Hi all,

I just mounted a scope, and i, doing so used blue loctite. About 30 minutes later I wanted to adjust my eye relief so I loosened the screws and moved the scope back. I then retightened them with proper torque. Will the locktite still work? Or should I remove them and apply more? Thanks.

What color Locktite did you use? Red Locktite is a big NO-NO, but blue can be used! I don't like either, I use my wifes finger nail polish. If you used red take the screws out and clean it off, if you used blue just retighten and it should be OK!

You learned a valuable lesson. Do all the set up "before" you secure anything. As in the blue loctite.

If it`s a problem in your head, do it over. No harm. no foul.

I used blue loctite. I guess my question is will the loctite still hold well if it was removed 30 minutes after originally applying it and screwing it the screws.

Thanks. Now im wishing i didnt use the loctite. Im reading that most dont use it for ring screws.

I always use blue Loctite on the screws - does no harm, may do some good.

Of course, I also lap the rings and paint the inside with rosin dissolved in alcohol, too. (Alcohol evaporates leaving a very very thin layer of rosin, which further resists slippage - it's really not needed, but is more of a "belt and suspenders" kind of thing.)
