I am trying to decide if I want to run open sights or to put a scope on my Redhawk?

I picked this up a few months ago and it had a HUGE clunky 2X6 scope on it. I have been going back and forth whether I want to put a slimmer Leupold 2X scope that I have on it or just run it open sights. I haven't hunted with a revolver for years and don't really plan on doing it any time soon.

If I don't put a scope back on it, I will have to find proper open sights to put back on it.

Thanks!

If it is already set up for scope use I would first try the 2x and see how you like it, especially considering you don't actually have the irons.

I guess that either way - assuming you're not going to use the huge & clunky - you have to buy something for it.

If it were me, I'd start with irons and get a scope later if I wished. Not intending to hunt though - would sort that issue for me too.

Todd.

I run an Ultradot on my Super Redhawk and really like it. If you are shooting at longer ranges I’d go scope, I prefer the red dot as it’s a hunting rig for me and the shots 90% of the time are 50 yards and under.

Best option is to buy another fixed sight Redhawk. I have a couple of each :)

Funny you say that! I just put my Leupold 2X scope on my Redhawk 7 1/2" Hunter! I am picking up a 5 1/2" fixed sight Redhawk tomorrow as it's understudy!

I have used the Gilmore/Leopold red dot scopes on my Super Redhawk , 629, and 657. They didn't hold up. I switched to a straight Leopold 2X. They work great!

Ha- my first was a stainless 5.5 .44 and I love it... a couple years after my local enabler had the 7.5 blued hunter for too cheap to pass on so it came home... they compliment each other :) I got a .45 colt stainless redhawk hunter in a trade a few years back I need to spend some time with and a stainless regular 7.5 .44 that was dads... I like the platform myself!
