    Hello Everyone,

I should be getting my Serbu BFG-50 very soon and I'm looking for some recommendations.

First, I picked up a Leupold Vari-X III 6.5-20 X 50mm Long Range Tactical, Gen II Mil Dot scope with the side focus and 30mm tube to mount on the 50. What would you recommend for rings to mount this on the BMG? I'm sure I'll need some high end rings to make sure the scope doesn't come loose. It will mount onto a Picatinny Rail.

Second, there is nothing in any of my local gun shops that I can use to clean the 50 with. Does anyone know of a good site or supplier for 50 BMG cleaning supplies? I'm definitely going to need it.

Lastly, can anyone recommend a good supplier for 50 BMG factory and surplus ammo. I know, I know, I should be reloading and I will get there some day. For now though, I have to buy it. Been looking at my local gun shows but the price seems pretty high.

Thanks for any help you can provide. I appreciate it.

    Troy

Two best set of rings, Badger Max50 and Leupold Mk-IV. I use the Mk-IV rings on my AR-50 and haven't had any problems. I hear the Russian rings that Serbu sells are pretty good also, I think they're a copy of the Badger rings. Try Premier Reticles www.premierreticles.com I think they carry both but not sure if their prices are the best.

Try Lock, Stock & Barrel for some cleaning supplies www.lockstock.com and Arizona Ammo for a bore guide www.azammo.com You can get a Dewey or BoreTech one piece rod, they are strong enough to handle the use they will see. Makes sure to get a good copper solvent, lots of patches and a good jag. LS&B sells all this stuff and .50 cal bore brushes.

For plinking ammo try www.ammoman.com and The Hunting Shack (HSM) for some AMAX www.thehuntingshack.com as they have they best price. You can buy IMI and now Barrett .50 BMG (loaded by IMI), these are the only factory loads available. All the other ammo is handloaded or remanufactured on machines from surplus. Stay away from Maine Cartridge Co.'s .50 ammo, Dominican Rep. "Yellow Tip" and TNW's .50 ammo as they have all been known to blow up .50's.

Lastly, join the FCSA, their magazine VHP is worth the dues alone.

I would say get badger ordinance max fifty scope rings. They aren't cheap but are of high quality and great strength. As for factory ammo, I would say go with AAA ammo, they have a variety of loaded ammo. You really need to start making your own. I would generally stay away from any surplus ammo. Go to fcsa.org for additional info and links.

Thanks for the advise. Has anyone used the IOR HD Long rings? They have 6 upper screws and two screw per each ring that mount to the rail. They seem like a real stable base.

Everyone has recommended the Ammoman to get my supply. Unfortunately they don't sell to Massachusett's residents. Damn Attorney General! :fire: He threw them a big fine and they haven't sold to us since.
