Hello,

I received a new rifle for Christmas and I need some advice on which scope to buy. I am looking for something up to $250. I know that is kinda cheap but I really don't want to spend much more than this on a groundhog gun. I have looked at the Leupold VX-1 and also Swift scopes. I was thinking 4-12x40, but maybe 6-18 in the Swift. The rifle is a 22-250 and like I said will be used for groundhogs mostly within 300yds. Thanks in advance for your responses.

I would find a reliable source and buy a used Leupold. Alternatively you can get a 3x9 40 Busnell elite for around 250. They are excellent scopes.

Some stores are selling out their Leupolds at 20% off in anticipation of some models being discontinued. I think that you can get a Leupold 3X9 for around 270 new, if you found someone discounting them that would put one in your target range.

I know that the Sportsmans Warehouse in Thornton Colorado is blowing theirs out at 20% off. Call em and see if they have somthing you can use.

In the accessories market forum, Prof is selling a matte Leupold Vari II 3x9.
