    Hello,

I want to put a fixed 4x scope on my 8x57 Mauser 98 action. I want the old school weaver style scope bases and a set of rings. I'm not sure what height rings will clear the original military style wing safety. High or Xtra-High?

You may have to take the rifle in to your local gun store to check which rings you need. The old standby was the Buelher(SP?) safety for the Mausers. They aren't expensive and can be removed to keep the rifle original. But if you have drilled and tapped the action, you arent worried about keeping it original.Check Brownells or Midway for a low profile safety.
