screw ct? I thought you were meaning Crimson Trace untill I read the post. Come to Ohio. No problems

Sorry to hear about your hassles. Not to rub it in, but in Georgia you go to the County seat, fill out an application, get sent to the Sheriff for finger prints and in a week or so you get a call from the courthouse to pick it up. Total cost $45.00.

***? Really? How is that even concealed if you have to advertise in the paper? Besides which idiot's idea was that? Vote them out by all means aaaaaargh!!!! Punish anyone who chooses to legally exercise their rights? Like all the huddles we have to jump are not already enough.
DEC4197,

Yeah I wasn't happy about it. Oh and it cost $80 too!
If I get turned down I will use this requirment in my appeal.
Stay tuned I guess, It's all I can do at the moment.

I'd do it in a minute. Here in Maryland (the Free State) I have zero chance of getting a carry permit, as I'm not rich, politically connected or a cash business owner.

I hear you bro...

same BS, expecially the last part..

In TN no license is needed to buy handguns or rifles which have no Federal or State restrictions.

If you want to carry a handgun you will need a Handgun Carry Permit. The process is relatively painless. Head down to your local DMV, fill out an application and turn it in to the DMV, pay the registration fee, receive your Handgun Carry Permit in the mail. That's it.

Registering a car in TN is also painless and cheap! Title transfer + new registration is less than $40 IIRC.

And i whine about living in California! That is a joke. At first I thought it was for a CCW permit. that's about what it takes to get a CCW where I live. A handgun in Ca, take a test, 15 minutes. Get a card. Wait ten days.

I certainly commiserate with the OP. Extended family is a main reason I grew up in CT. They moved out a long time ago. Now I know why. Or at least one of the reasons. The state I grew up in is no place for an old New England Republican. It has become Massachusetts lite. Sad.
Guard your freedoms well guys, there will always be those who will legislate "for your own good".
Old NERs are a dying breed.

Want to hear something real messed up? Last summer while I was waiting for my permit paperwork to get back a town police officer went around and knocked on doors of people on my street asking "how they felt about Josh having a pistol permit?" First of all none of the people on my street know me, second I dont want people around here knowing I may of may not be in possession of a handgun on my person. I just dont think it was right for them to be going around asking the neighbors how they felt about me having a pistol. Since in CT its not a law to conceal, yet you will lose your permit if your shirt rides up and someone calls the police saying they saw a gun. You will lose your weapon and permit for breach of peace! This was told to me by the assistant chief of police. Last of all when I do carry my 1911-A1, its covered up and in my Crossbreed IWB holster. Now no matter what I'm doing even if I'm just walking my dog my neighbors give me the worst looks like I'm a criminal.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.*

*Except in Connecticut where you are automatically considered a felon if you step foot off your property regardless of if you're a law-abiding person not prohibited from possessing firearms by any of the disqualifying conditions.

Just think, if the powers that be had their way, you wouldn't be able to own a handgun at all. Ever. For any reason. And they wonder why american's do not trust their government!

I can't vouch for it, but in another discussion of CT law and procedure, it was stated that it is illegal for police doing a background check to reveal the reason for which it is being done.

Hmm... do you recall what thread it was in? I just cant believe how they did that. Like I said in my OP none of the people on the street know me, and now all I get are dirty looks like I'm a common street thug... Kind of too late to do anythign about that now I guess.?
