I want to try some of RMR’s 9mm 124 Gr. Truncated Cone Flat Point MatchWinner bullets but don’t know if the extra seater plug that came with my Lyman 4 die set marked as a 401L that appears as a flat point would be a proper fit for these. The other seater plug that came with the set is for RN. I thought about posting this to RMR but decided they probably have enough on on their plate. So, I would like to hear what you all would suggest or recommend.

Thanks for your time.

The plug in my Lee seater seemed to work fine as well.
For your Lyman dies I would try the one that appears flat first, if it doesn't work out I would go ahead and give the other one a try,
One would think the flat one would be better but sometimes bullets fail to understand logic and just do what they want!

example
Bullet, see where the other 4 bullets went in the target? Ok just follow them and go there, but nnooooooo :)

I've had better luck with the RN seating plug vs the flat. The flat works very good if you have enough flare to hole the bullet straight. The RN will align better since it will center it. This is where the FN has the issues, no way to center the bullet. This some times will cause the bullet to go in at a angle, shaving. Works great for true WC.

If you have a flat seater plug, I would try that and see how OAL variance is.

FYI, I used Lee combo seating and taper crimping die with round seater plug for RMR 124 gr FP bullet and got .001" OAL variance with pre-resized brass - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...iance-progressive-press.833604/#post-10779640

I also use the Lee round seater plug with the RMR 124gr FP bullets with little variance. With any good quality bullet like RMR it should be easy to get a consistent COL even when using the round seater plug.

Are Lee dies the best, probably not, do they work just fine and are a good deal, Yes.
I have a set of Hornady 9mm dies as well. I use Hornadys seater, the Lee resize and decap die some some dies from eat set I like a little better.
(actually 2 sets of Lee 9mm dies, one for my progressive and one for the Lee turret.

PS: When I loaded he RMR FNs I used my Lee seater, I like to leave the Hornady set for my match loads loads. Lee seater worked just fine with the plug that came in it unmodified.

I'm very pleased that I found you all and this forum. Every time I read this thread and others I find something else I didn't know and want to pursue and understand. Example; "plunk and plunk testing". I have setup my Lyman T-Mag press for 9 mm Luger for my G43 (while thinking about 9X19 expansion to the inventory :)). Some (many) years ago I used a RCBS Rock Chucker for reloading my .45 ACP rounds but it now resides in its original box. I now have a Lyman T-Mag head for the .45 ACP dies. Anyway, its a pleasure to be with you all.

Here is an easy fix. Use your round nose plug.

Lube bullet nose with a release agent, light oil sparingly works.

Remove seater plug ,clean thoroughly, fill with HOT hot glue , insert bullet nose into HOT glue.

Let hot glue cool. Trim excess off. You now have a custom fit seater plug !

Thanks to GP100man

Please let us know how the RMR bullets work out for you.
I sure will. Have an order on the way from RMR that I made from their new website a few days ago. They have a sale going for a short time with 8% off on their 9mm bullets. We had a exchange of a few messages. Nice folks and they are now at the top of my short list. Will be checking out load data now from the group for RMR's 9mm 124 Gr. Truncated Cone Flat Points. Looking forward to the exercise and practice with the reloads I work up. :)

Thanks for stepping in and taking care of him you guys! You gave much better answers than I would have. I just use my RN seater plug

Ditto. Although I'm loading the RMR 147 Heavy Match Winner FN rather than 124s. Lee seater/crimper with the RN plug seems to work just fine.

Why is there always one bullet that just can't seem to figure out what it is supposed to do?
Just like I mentioned in #4:)
Nice shooting Walkalong, I like he MPRs as well.
For me it was a close call between the FNs and the MPRs.
My 1911 seemed to like the MPRs better, but it could be the load was a bit better, or I just shot the MPR groups a little better,

Received my first order from RMR that I made last Thursday and it arrived here Monday. What great service, especially since they were bringing their new site online at the time. Lots of things to deal with when you're rolling new software in. Also, really appreciated the art work that was taken the time for on the thank you note. I like these folks!

I’m finally ready to start working up a range load for the G43 and hoping you all may feel like sharing or suggesting a 9mm Luger recipe or two with me. I want to use RMR’s 124 gr FMJ FP bullets that I received recently along with my on hand CCI Small Pistol primers, and W231 or Bullseye powder.

Checking the other Lyman seater plug that I have appears it will be a nice fit for the RMR 124 gr FMJ FP.

I’m much obliged to you all for the help you’ve given me. I’m having a ball being back to reloading and hopefully will learn how to go about putting a safe load together when there seems to be no established recipes.

P.S. I sure didn't mean to handcuff the recipes because of the two powders I have on hand. Sure would consider another flavor....

4.3 gr W231/HP-38 and 124 gr FMJ RN at 1.130"-1.135" have worked well for me. If you are using shorter working OAL with FMJ FP bullet, try 4.0 - 4.2 gr.

Thanks very much bds. That'll sure get my show on the road and with some future RMR options also. :) Do I detect the absence of any taper crimp in the photos.

P.S. I think the MPR's will be next in line.
