Security Six snubbie (43 yrs old)

I’ve owned probably a dozen Six series that I shot with those grips from Hades 🤣🤣

I was just funnin anyway. I've never even touched a set of those grips.

You know, maybe with some firearm models making a coming back (most recently the no lock S&W revolvers but also Colts revolver line) maybe we'll get a big surprise and see Rugers Six series reintroduced (I can dream can't I? 😉)

I bought a SS version of that gun back in the mid 1980's. I think I paid $225 for it. I did change the grips but that's probably the only gun I let go that I wish I had back.

Wow, wouldn’t that be nice…
Also, I fixed it for you. 😉

Congratulations @Buckeye63
It’s definitely a nice gun. I’ll bet a grip adapter would be a nice addition to that grip. BK Grips doesn’t have any but there’s always Tyler T Grips, though I have never ordered from them.

You definitely don’t want to use those thin wooden grips on a full range day… I wear gloves most the time when I go to the range .. but with 357 mag ammunition.. it can be a bit painful.
Im most likely will put some sort of rubber grips for range use ..

I've got your gun's twin in stainless and the old Sile rubber grip (looks like the Presentation) is by far the most comfortable. BTW, that's a great looking blued Security Six. Renaissance Wax works wonders protecting and putting a shine on without any abrasives. Good luck with that gem. 20221226_133639.jpg

+1 for Renaissance Wax

If you go on EBay and search “Ruger Security Six Grips” you will find quite a few options, including SILE grips that @stonebuster mentioned.

Outstanding Find, Buckeye63! Congratulations! :)

<nodding> In late '75(?) I bought a NIB SS 2¾" version (151-75701) to replace my '73 NIB-purchased 4" Blue Security-Six (150-33573). Great handgun! ... but neeeeeeded Pachmayrs. ;)

A few years later I gifted it to a friend who really liked it and was moving far away.

Got mine as partial payment from a "friend" for helping him on his Christmas tree farm, a 4" stainless with Pachmyer Grippers.

Dad liked mine so much he bought it's twin. He spent hours on it with an old rag and a tube of Flitz to make it shine and added a set of Hogue Coco grips.
Beautiful revolver that I inherited when he passed in '05 but I gave it to my sister for a HD gun.

Only pic I have on my phone of mine:

Very nice!

The only issue with finding rubber grips is sometimes the rubber, over time, will harden and become more like hard plastic rather than soft rubber. II prefer to find vintage grips at a gun show so that I can examine them before purchase.
Something I've noticed with some Pachmayr rubber grips vs Sile...at least some Pachmayr grips use metal under thin rubber (top of grip)to stiffen the grip. I've had the finish marred under the grip from metal on metal contact. I haven't experienced that with the Sile.
