Decades ago we had wallet holsters for Bretta .25's & H & R .22 mag. derringers. Then ATF classified them different & I didn't see them anymore. I read somewhere where they require a tax stamp. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

The one in #16 gets away with it for the same reaso this is a pistol, not an SBR.

We won’t have any cool toys once the people that write the laws know what they are talking about.

It depends on the style and function of the wallet holster. If the gun can be fired in the holster it requires a tax stamp. If it must be drawn from the holster before firing it's like any other holster. I've carried a SeeCamp in a wallet holster legally for years.

Not really, that one doesn't count because it can't be fired without removing the gun from the holster.

BATFE considers any holster that can conceal a firearm that allows it to be fired while inside the holster and conceals the pistol entirely, having holes to allow the trigger to be pulled and a bullet to exit, when in combination with said firearm, constitutes possesion of an AOW, illegal if not registered as an AOW.

The DeSantis "Pocket Shot" is likewise exempted because it doesn't cover the slide or barrel, and thus (according to ATF, at least) doesn't conceal the fact that it's a firearm. The same reasoning allows the "pen guns" and "cell phone guns" that have to be folded into a gun shape before they can be fired to be sold without a stamp, while the ones that can fire while still pen- or phone-shaped are AOW.

The fact that a holster that doesn't perform the most important function of a holster (i.e., covering the trigger) is a stupid idea is a totally different argument.
