THR-

I'm looking for a light for my FNX 40. I'm not after the highest lumen output on the market, I just want the smallest light that will mount to the accessory rail on my FNX. I see all kinds of lights on amazon and optics planet, etc. but some of them are weapon specific. If you can recommend a light, you could save me some time and research. I'm not on any specific budget. Just a small light, no laser necessary!
Thank you THR!

Thomis

If you ever expect to holster that gun, after you get recommendations for the light, see if you can find a holster that will accommodate that light mounted to your gun, before you buy.

If I was planning on carrying it, I may work backwards from the holster. Find a holster you like and see what mounted lights they cover. It will probably give you some light ideas and it may be easier that way.

For instance, here is Dale Fricke's Gideon Elite. You can see what lights they cover with the FNX. You can see if any of the models you are considering are listed.

There are a couple factors to take into consideration. Biggest one is cost which you said not to worry about. In my opinion you still should. I have a $25 light on my airsoft gun that works great for chasing mice in corners. But I wouldn't trust it on anything bigger. You get what you pay for. Holsters is another big concern. If you plan to carry your weapon with light, you will need to make sure you can find a holster that fits it. So the light cannot be too obscure of a make. Third factor is size and activation. I don't like my light to extend past the muzzle or below the trigger guard. Don't know why but it has always bothered me. So I research lights that will fit my gun well in advance. I also don't like spinny paddle switches like on the Surefire X300 or Streamlight TLR-1.

Taking away all those, I suggest a TLR 1 or TLR-7A from Streamlight. The TLR-1 is longer but it has more lumens and most people like the activation switch. The TLR-7A has buttons you push forward. The Flex model has tools to where you can put the buttons for a high or low activation. Toward the top or bottom of the front side of the trigger guard. These two models are popular enough you can find a holster for them without too much internet chasing.

Thanks for the recs. I won't be holstering the gun, so that is a non-issue. The FNX is my house-yard-workshop gun. I don't even have a holster for it as it is - naked.

Olight PL MIni has an adjustable mount that makes it easy to fit a lot of the micro rails out there. I'm using one on a Ruger SR22 and a Sig P320 compact and have been happy with the results.

Another vote for the olight pl mini. I have one that fits well on either my SR-22 or my M&P9C (first gen). Its very bright, very small, and the magnetic charging is easy to use.

Another O light Baldor Mini or Olight Valkyrie PL Mini fan. On a modern pistol like your FN, as suggested check with your holster maker first for combos they make to fit.

I'm in the same market but still in search of the firearm. Fnx45 and my current research has me looking at the tlr7

Still searching but this is the one in leaning on. I'm exact same boat. House, yard, truck, no carry. Fnx45 with rmr type 2 adj and a light

Worst part is purchase in today's shortage puts that exact kit at $1850 out the door. Ouch... 15+1 45acp... priceless

"This is solid advice, I have a few nice laser and lights I can't use because of not being able to find a holster. Working backwards from the holster can save you some money

Here is what an Olight PL-MINI 2 looks like on a Taurus G2C.
index.php

It's about 1mm shy of being flush with the barrel. It's easy to activate by pushing down on one of the switches on either side, and it has somewhat of a flood pattern compared to the full size PL-2.

The mounting system is very flexible. Stick the mount on the rail, slide the light back, and lock the light and mount down with a single lever.

I don't have that many rounds through the G2C with the light mounted, but so far I'm pleased with it.

ETA

The ring on the bottom of the light is for the magnetic USB charger cable.
