I’ve rang all of the normal bells, ebay, Numrich, Wisner’s, GB, but these seem to be hen’s teeth. Short of buying a parts rifle (which likely ALSO has a broken plunger assy), I’m taking a long shot here.

I may end up reverting it to a 12 style spring rather than the plunger design of the updated 121, but would obviously prefer to stay original.

Anyone have a line on one?

@Nature Boy - haven’t seen one come up on ebay during the last ~9mos in seeking it for this owner, and have rarely seen them come up in the past when others have brought in broken 121’s. Not super common rifles for me, but that breakage seems to be super common for these rifles.

The easy fix is simply adding a retaining washer, and another option is to convert it to the 12 style “buffer spring” instead of the 121 plunger assy, but neither option are “as factory.”

It’s an interesting design. The bolt face is machined with a curved rim groove slightly misaligned with the bore, so as the case is extracted, the extractor pushes it to sink into the groove - that shift in position moves the case relative to the firing pin, and as the slide bottoms at the rear, the firing pin hits this buffer plunger and acts as the ejector! Kinda neat, even if it wasn’t well executed, as the ejector plunger assembly flange is exceptionally fragile.

I have one that I bought on a whim for my 121 as a spare part. Knowing that they are kinda rare I may have paid too much ($40), but this exact 121 is the first firearm I ever fired (best I can recall), so I picked up some spare parts. I probably don't shoot the gun more than a few hundred rounds per year, so I'll probably never need the extra plunger. PM me if you want more info.
