Does anyone have accurate, up to date info concerning regulation of semiautomatic pistol ownership in either/both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland?

Thanks in advance.

AFAIK, all handgun possession by individuals is banned, not just semi-autos.

Yes indeed, and how so very sad for British and Irish citizens, no?

But I'm sure that British and Irish criminals don't have handguns, either...you know...because of that ban. :scrutiny:

I have to wonder if the Irish know they have gun laws. After all the IRA never seem to have any problem getting them.

Contrary to popular belief, handguns are legal in Northern Ireland, even though they are part of the UK. This is due to the Firearms (Northern Ireland) Order.

I believe you can even carry it, naturally, within the borders of Northern Ireland without a permit. You do need some type of certificate to purchase a handgun (pretty sure).
