    Senate Sets Aside Gun Bill
    House Bill Still Pending
    http://www.nbc4.com/news/3747247/detail.html

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Senate has set aside its version of a bill that would repeal D.C.'s strict handgun laws.

According to a Washington Post report, senate backers said they didn't have the votes to get the measure out of committee as part of the D.C. appropriations bill.

A measure still pending in the House has more than enough support to come to a vote before the November elections. It would repeal the city's decades-old ban on handguns and semiautomatic weapons and make it legal to possess handguns in homes and workplaces.

And the bill would keep city lawmakers from enacting new gun control laws.

D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton warned that would make the District a "free fire zone" and she called supporters of the plan "irresponsible extremists."

She also said if the gun laws are repealed, more children will be at risk of dying in the District.

    wah, wah......

We all know that the criminals are buying legal, registrered firearms and killing babies by the thousands in DC right now. If we let honest citizens defend themselves.....well, of course the death toll might rise.

That is, until the criminals realized that the good guys CAN shoot back.

There were two suits in the last two years. One by CATO and one by the NRA. I've been trying to see were these are in the system but have not found anything. Does anyone know. Last I heard the NRA lost but maybe an appeal was on going. I never heard anything about the CATO case.

Yes, because we know that the current restrictions have proven to be so effective. :scrutiny:

Our elected misrepresentatives in the Senate take no action? Why, how very surprising!

I was torturing myself with some liberal DC radio today when the on air discussion turned to repealing the DC handgun ban.

The guest speaker was the guy who heads the DC Million Mom March.

I actually got on air to counter some of his lies.

Amazingly, many if not most of the callers were FOR repealing the handgun ban.

the smartest thing that the MMM guy said was that we should let the voters decide.......
